The end result make look natural, but there's nothing easy about producing the sex scenes in "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena":
So says Jaime Murray, 'Gaia' on 'Spartacus: Gods of the Arena', the prequel to last season's critically acclaimed "Spartacus: Blood and Sand." (scroll down):

"It's completely bizarre, it's a trip," Murray says of the intense love scenes in the show. "Thankfully, I had my scenes with amazing actors, who I really respect and look up to. You have to look into their eyes and try to block everything out."
By blocking out things, Murray means all the other people in the room necessary for the production.
"Yeah," she says, "generally when I'm getting sexy, I don't have some guy in an Iron Maiden T-shirt standing in the corner."
"Spartacus: Gods of the Arena"... is again built around a group of gladiators who love fighting as much as women and wine. As Murray notes, it's set in a period before Christ and "pre- the moral standards we have today," which means anything goes in order to get ahead.
"I think the actors in the first season were a lot braver than I was," says Murray. "Having seen it, you realize it's a different world, with different moral values. The stakes are very high. These people are doing what they had to do to survive."
Murray's Gaia is a very close friend of Lucretia (Lucy Lawless). Gaia has a variety of vices, is sexually adventurous and uses her assets to help her friends.
As an actress, Murray is drawn to edgy roles like this one, previously starring in Showtime's "Dexter" as well as starreding in two flops on the CW, "Valentine" and "Beautiful Life."
"I do get more excited by more of those complex roles," she says. "There's a wealth of emotional material in those roles. I'm very fascinated by human beings and the human condition - what motivates people, their needs and desires. What leads them to make choices we might judge as questionable."
Murray studied psychology before turning to the stage so trying to get into the heads of her characters is what she loves about acting.
"Actors always have a reason for what they're doing. I find what led them to that place is very, very interesting," she says.
Likewise, she approaches acting somewhat cerebrally as well, knowing when she's hit the mark with a character - or not.
"I know when I haven't," she says. "When you haven't, you're thinking, you're intellectualizing. When you're working across from someone and you're in it and they're in it, your brain stops working and it gets blissful. You're definitely losing yourself."
