This is one of the things that I love about screencaps. Little moments like this one above. I knew this was a tender scene (despite Lucretia having had sex with Crixus earlier and in the bath most likely to remove any hint that she was before husband Batiatus came home from...attempting to kill his father...before losing confidence and failing to do so.)
Anyway. Click the screencap and see that Lucretia is tearing up. Hard to know if she's amped it up a bit as she's, as she stated during the episode, 'at the edge of a cliff' not knowing at this point if her hubs is going to dissolve his marriage to her as his father demanded...Still, it's an additonal layer to consider.

This scene had a lot of gravity to it and the sex was almost beside the point. Two slaves. One the great Gannicus, best friend of Oenemous, now Doctore, and Doctore's wife, Melitta are forced to proves Gannicus's 'manliness' by having sex in front of a potential buyer of gladiators, Batitatus, Lucretia, and Gaia. Lucretia just barely begins to protest but quickly realizes that since her husband's business is on the verge of being wiped off the map (his gladiators have been banned from the games) she must quiet. The buyer and Batiatus urge the slaves on and they go about their instructions with as much dignity as the situation will allow.
Since 'Gods of the Arena' is a prequel to Season 1 of 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' we are able to go back and glimpse the humanity that still remained in Lucretia at that time as she looked not lustfully at the spectacle before her as the others did, but sympathetically at her body servant, Melitta's face. OTOH, it would seem that Lucretia's husband, Batiatus has always been greedy, manipulative and selfish.
