The Brazilian-born Baccarin, age thirty-three, was until recently — and maybe still is — best known for her role on the short-lived 2009 ABC series V, on which she played the doe-eyed, pixie-cut alien queen with an excellent Q rating. And removable skin. It's her iconic role to date, save perhaps her part on the culty Firefly, which turned the heads of a thousand, thousand fanboys. "It's a coincidence," she says of starring in two major science-fiction projects. "I really look for strong female characters, or weak female characters, for that matter — something defined, tucked inside a great story. Reading V gave me straight-out goosebumps. You know, not knowing who your neighbors are, discovering that you live in an occupied state. Firefly I grabbed. We all thought it would last."

"Gannicus" Tells Of The Fate of A Gladiator Tonight on Starz!
Dustin Clare as 'Gannicus' in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena on Starz
Dustin Clare, who plays the hunky Gannicus on the six-episode series, has info that might be of interest. “We’re going to lose a gladiator on tonight’s episode,” he says, bluntly in his Aussie accent. As you’ll recall, last week we also left off with Gannicus being forced into sex with Oenomaus’ wife Melitta, and in tonight’s all new episode, Gannicus is “still reeling” from the encounter, says Clare. “In episode 3, he’s still trying to process that,” he tells us.
Looking ahead, Clare says we can look forward to “the most amazing fight we’ve ever attempted. The fight choreographers deserve all the credit for that. We did a lot of Saturdays learning that fight. Also, in terms of filming it, it took something like eight days. It’s a big fight.”
Introducing the gladiators of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. Oenomaus, Crixus, Barca, Gnaeus, Ashur, Gannicus, Dagan. Premieres Friday Jan 21st at 10 pm e/p on Starz.
Spartacus: Gods of the Arena - The Weapons
Rob Bavin, Props Master on Spartacus: Gods of the Arena gives us a lesson on the weapons of the gladiators. Premieres January 21st 10 pm e/p on Starz.
Apologies in advance for the commercial at the beginning. It's pretty awful. The BTS video is pretty fascinating as it shows different locations, Johnny Depp of course, and many, many extras (now called 'background artists.' My understanding is that filming of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' is now complete. Yay!
Spartacus: Gods of the Arena - Behind the Scenes. Interviews with the cast. Premieres Jan 21st 10 PM e/p on Starz
I'm so excited that I can actually watch in the den on TV when it premieres in Jan '11. I had to trim the cable bill & drop Starz last year and so did not see much of Spartacus: Flesh and Blood, the sequel to the upcoming Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. I have a new provider now and Starz for cheap(er)-- so yea!
I'm still sort of gobsmacked that the American Movie Channel is putting on a zombie gorefest television series but I'm not at all unhappy about it. It just seems so incongruous. Perhaps zombies represent the quintessential American cinematic subject?
Just so I can get the dozen or more promos for AMC's "Walking Dead" in a handy one-stop shop form I'm repeat-posting the first "Walking Dead" long-form preview, too. It just makes things easier when the person who posted the videos takes them down, gets suspended or has their account exiled forever from YouTube. (Oh YouTube, let me count the ways that I both love and hate thee.)
AMC's newest original series, "The Walking Dead," will premiere on Halloween night, Sunday, October 31 at 10 PM ET. The Sunday night series will debut with a 90-minute premiere episode, airing at 10 PM, October 31st. Subsequent episodes will be one-hour long presentations.
"The Walking Dead" is based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The six-episode series tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln ("Love Actually," "Teachers," "Strike Back"), traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Jon Bernthal ("The Pacific," "The Ghost Writer") plays Rick's sheriff's department partner before the apocalypse, Shane Walsh, and Sarah Wayne Callies ("Prison Break"), is Rick's wife, Lori. Supporting cast include Laurie Holden ("The Shield"), Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs and Steven Yeun.
Three-time Academy Award-nominee Frank Darabont ("The Shawshank Redemption," "The Green Mile") serves as writer, director and executive producer. Chairwoman of Valhalla Motion Pictures, Gale Anne Hurd ("The Terminator," "Aliens," "Armageddon," "The Incredible Hulk"), creator of the original comic series, Robert Kirkman, and David Alpert from Circle of Confusion serve as Executive Producer. Charles "Chic" Eglee ("Dexter," "The Shield," "Dark Angel") and Jack LoGiudice ("Sons of Anarchy," "Resurrection Blvd") are Co-Executive Producer.

The Walking Dead: Zombie School (Learning How To Shamble)
You didn't think that zombies learned to walk all by themselves now did you? Welcome to AMC Zombie School for the upcoming The Walking Dead television series.
In this interview Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter sit down with Philip DeFranco to talk about Tim Burton's new movie Alice In Wonderland in which they star.
As much as I've enjoyed Justin Kirk's University of Andy video series, Kevin Nealon is much funnier. He's very good at improvising--doing off-the-cuff stuff. He made these videos on the his last day filming Weeds: Season 5 and goes behind the scenes including the rehearsing and filming of the Doug and Celia at the storage facility pot showdown scene and the Celia and her crew scene that comes later. Fun stuff.
